Work with evidence sets directly in your browser.

Pocket Discovery is built for teams that need to open, search and review evidence documents locally without having to move the evidence into a hosted review platform.

Product

Review evidence without waiting for hosted legal review platforms.

Pocket Discovery is intended for document-heavy matters where users need to inspect source material, search metadata and move through related records quickly.

Start reviewing immediately

Open and index a prepared evidence collection directly from your computer, without waiting for a hosted project, data upload or reviewer setup.

No per-gigabyte charges

Pay a flat licence fee per user, monthly or annually. Evidence volume does not change the price.

Use it when hosting is hard to justify

Review smaller matters, early productions and targeted evidence sets without the cost and administration of a hosted review project.

Evidence stays on your local computer.

Review files locally using your browser, without requiring the entire evidence collection to be uploaded to a hosted review platform.

Pocket Discovery connects to online authentication and licensing services, but does not send the evidence collection as part of that process.

Organisations can use standard OIDC sign-in with their own identity provider where configured.

FAQ

About evidence collections and load files.

What evidence formats can I open?

Pocket Discovery works with prepared evidence collections supplied as Concordance load files (.dat files) or CSV files. These files contain document metadata and file paths to the accompanying native or PDF documents.

What is a load file?

A load file is a text-based index supplied with an evidence collection. It records information about each document and identifies where the corresponding native or PDF files are stored. Pocket Discovery uses this existing index to make the collection searchable and reviewable in your browser.

Do I need to upload the evidence?

No. Pocket Discovery opens supported evidence collections locally from your computer and never uploads the evidence to the internet. An internet connection is required for software licensing.

Why am I prompted twice when adding a load file?

Your browser requires two separate permissions. The first allows Pocket Discovery to read the load file; the second allows access to the folder containing the associated documents, so the app can open them as needed. These prompts are part of the browser's security sandbox.

What browsers are supported?

Pocket Discovery currently supports Chromium-based browsers, such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Firefox does not support the local file access features the app requires and is not currently supported.

Can we use our own identity provider?

Yes. Pocket Discovery supports OIDC sign-in, so organisations with an existing identity provider can use their own authentication flow where configured. Individual users can also sign in through Pocket Discovery-managed authentication.

How do I pay?

Pocket Discovery is currently offering beta access for testing before moving to paid subscriptions. To discuss beta access or future payment arrangements, contact info@pocketdiscovery.com.

Can I join the beta?

Yes. Pocket Discovery is live and available for selected beta users before wider commercial release. Beta users can test the app on real review workflows, subject to licence terms and onboarding.
